Capri Communities has broken ground on Vista West – its third retirement campus in Dane County. The 5-story, 174-apartment campus is located adjacent to Navitus Health Solutions’ corporate headquarters and near West Towne Mall on Madison’s growing west side.
Vista West, scheduled to open in fall 2021, will feature a micro-continuum of care with more than 140 one- and two-bedroom independent apartments designed to allow residents to age in place. An additional 30 specialty apartments will accommodate those with high-acuity health needs, including those with dementia.
Modern amenities such as stainless-steel appliances, in-unit washer and dryer and private outdoor patios will enhance the spacious apartments, and residents will have access to on-campus conveniences such as underground parking, a health and wellness center, rooftop deck overlooking the Madison horizon and a variety of formal and casual dining options.
Vista West embraces Madison’s love for the outdoors and includes environmentally friendly features such as bio-swale gardens, roof detention and indigenous landscaping. The exterior design will complement the surrounding area’s contemporary architectural style. A 5th floor amenity deck with outdoor kitchen and seating areas and a landscaped courtyard will provide residents with additional areas to socialize.
While the coronavirus pandemic has sparked concerns in real estate development, senior housing remains in high demand.
“We have been extraordinarily fortunate to open two senior living campuses – St. Rita Square on Milwaukee’s Lower East Side, and Grace Commons in Menomonee Falls – during the pandemic. said James Tarantino, CEO of Capri Communities. “Our new residents at these properties are enjoying their new homes; we have enjoyed seeing our new residents thrive. We, like many, have adjusted ensure proper physical distancing and have a laser focus on cleanliness. Overall, our residents value being a “part of something” in a time when living at home presents challenges of loneliness and social isolation.”
Specially trained staff will lead a wide variety of programming designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle and active aging. Capri’s lifestyle and active aging programming celebrates the life stories and individual interests of all residents and encourages a sense of community. Unique to Capri, its evidence-based memory care programming Blu Grotto® is designed to enrich the quality of life for those suffering from dementia-related illness.
Vista West joins Capri’s growing Dane County portfolio, including Hyland Campus in Sun Prairie and Drumlin Reserve in Cottage Grove. The architect for the project is AG Architects and the general contractor is Stevens Construction. This land was acquired by Capri from Livesey Company in June.
