    Mona Schmalz

    Community Manager

Mona joined Capri Communities in 2005 and is the Community Manager at Hedwig House, Three Oaks Circle and Carnegie Place. She has worked in all forms of property management for over 40 years. The ability to help people each day is what makes Mona most proud about her role at her communities. “In some small way I can make residents’ lives better even for the briefest of moments,” she said. “My residents have taught me so much. The greatest thing they have taught me is to never give up and to love with everything you have.” Mona hopes people remember her for the way she can make people laugh, even in tough times, and that she is passionate about helping people. “I want to let anyone who has ever helped me or loved me to know how much they mean to me.” When Mona is not at work, she is happiest learning new things and exploring new ideas. Her personal motto is: If you are not doing things to help make this world a better place, it is not worth doing. It’s clear that Mona has a kind, helpful soul and is passionate about working with her residents and team, making sure they have the best experience and outcome possible.

    Joan Hadley

    Social Services Coordinator

Empathetic, tenacious, and funny, Joan has been part of the Hedwig House team since 2009. She has her bachelor’s degree in social work with State of Wisconsin certification. “My career has mostly focused on working with elderly and disabled individuals,” said Joan. “I have had the opportunity to work in several HUD buildings in Milwaukee. I currently hold two Service Coordinator positions in Milwaukee.” “I think my colleagues would describe me as easy to work with, going above and beyond for my clients, passionate, reliable, and, although it hardly sounds like it now, humble and modest,” said Joan, smiling. “I’ve learned along the way not to judge people, start where they are in the moment,” she said of lessons her residents have taught her. “Be aware of oneself and one’s biases. Each individual has a life experience that, if you’re lucky enough, they want to share with you!”
