Meet Your Neighbor

We’ll be there for you

Our amazing staff goes to great lengths to make Capri a thriving, vibrant community. But when it comes right down to it, our residents are the ones who really make living here feel like home. Packed with colorful personalities, this fun-loving bunch includes folks interested in just about every activity you can think of—so you’ll be sure to fit right in! But don’t take our word for it. Pull up a chair and get to know a few for yourself.

COME AND KNOCK ON THEIR DOOR

Grace and Jean

Grace and Jean made fast friends at Village Pointe Commons, our senior community in Grafton. They both were active as career women and wanted to retire to a senior community where they could continue to learn, teach, volunteer, and meet new people.

“I usually have breakfast in my apartment or at the café here,” said Jean, “but Grace and I decided to start our day together and have breakfast in the dining room.”

Both Grace and Jean are part of the resident ambassador program, now in place at all Capri Communities. When a new resident arrives, they’re partnered up with an ambassador to help them get acclimated to the community. “I’m like a little information booth. I take calls and answer questions for new residents,” said Jean.

Grace enjoys playing with the sheepshead and bridge groups. “I teach others how to play, too,” she added. Grace is definitely a card-gamer, adding Rummikub and Uno to the mix as well.

Jean pointed out the bocce court below. “A group plays every once in a while when it’s nice out. I tried it and had fun. It will be better with practice,” she said with a laugh. When she isn’t practicing bocce, learning sheepshead in her beginner group, or volunteering at the community store, she spends her time out and about in the surrounding neighborhoods. Of course, both ladies find time during the day to relax in their apartments.

“We usually end the day with happy hour,” said Jean (“Or bingo,” added Grace). “We gab. It’s at 4pm every day, but sometimes we start at 3:30. People bring down anything from sparkling water to an Old Fashioned.” Happy hours are very well-attended at Village Pointe Commons and usually end up spilling out onto their community balcony in the spring and summer months!

Dave and Katie

From high school sweethearts to happily married for over 60 years, Dave and Katie have found a home at the Gables of Germantown. They met halfway between the brass and the woodwind section of the band – Dave played the trumpet and Katie the clarinet. They bonded over music and created a life together with four children and ten grandchildren.

Their favorite part of living at the Gables of Germantown is the people. Simply put, they are like family. They also like the variety of activities the Gables offers from happy hours at the pub and game room to crafts and live entertainment.

“There is always something to do.”

Dave loves the conveniences of Independent Living – no more mowing grass or shoveling snow! Those worries are a thing of the past. Now, they can travel to see family or invite them to come for a visit.

Dave and Katie can’t wait to meet you and hope you can experience the enjoyment that the Gables brings everyday. If you’re looking for a little relationship advice, Dave and Katie are happy to share all their secrets as well. According to Dave, you only need to remember two simple words, “Yes Dear!”

Joan

“A Wonderful Fortress” – that’s exactly how Joan describes Wilson Commons. After living through Hurricane Charlie in Florida and losing the roof to her condo, Joan was looking for a place to feel safe and secure. So, she packed up her bags and landed at Wilson Commons in Milwaukee. Now closer to her daughter and safe from all the elements, Joan is truly enjoying life!

It doesn’t take long to see that Joan has made some great friends at Wilson Commons, with whom she shares her days. They start the day with breakfast – a fan favorite among many. After resting a while, Joan attends exercise class, followed by lunch and a variety of fun activities. She often participates in card games, and she loves holiday parties. Joan is always looking to make more friends, and she would be delighted to welcome you to your new “fortress.”
