My mom is a memory care resident. The memory care unit is heaven on earth for our suffering parents, sister's, brothers etc...there has never been a time while visiting I haven't seen her busy doing a craft or playing a game. The staff are earth angels in my opinion. Very very caring and loving case management and staff. The Gables is better than 5 stars in my family's opinion.

I moved my aunt into The Gables several months ago. This was after she spent a year and a half at another community with very poor care. I can't say enough good things about the staff at The Gables and the care she is now receiving. My aunt was very depressed at her previous residence and now looks forward to getting up for the day. We can't say enough positive things about The Gables assisted living and their staff. Our folks moved into The Gables in August and they both just passed. We miss them terribly yet they couldn't have been in a better community, surrounded by caring staff. Liz and Jamie are kind, informative, and insightful - they coordinate seamlessly. Raquel's activities were a hit and we enjoyed the Facebook photo journals. Emily, the on-site nurse, is our hero and our folks loved her. Her compassion, professionalism, and planning ensured they were comfortable and well cared for throughout their journey. What a wonderful group - we're so very lucky we found them.

First of All! The staff at the Gables is amazing! Everyone has gone above and beyond what my mother in law needs with a smile on their face! My mother in law started at The Gables in Assisted Living, her condition worsened and after consulting with Dr's and staff was moved into the Memory Care community. At first she was confused and felt out of place, but it wasn't long before she fit right in! Now, she is busy as a bee! We can never catch her in her room for a phone call! She is out and about socializing and taking part in the many activities the staff put together for them. My wife and I highly recommend this community! And most of all, so does my mother in law! For me, that is what matters most! Well done to management and staff! Well done.

Our mom started at the Gables in the assisted living, now has moved in the memory care community. We feel so confident in the staff and management there. We can leave for a weekend and know mom is in good hands. Their activities keep her always with something to do. We feel she is getting great care and it has a homey feel all around. If mom can't be with us at this stage in her life, she is right at home with them 🙂

    Liz Rundle

    Executive Director

    No matter when you see Liz, she’s all smiles. Literally. Ear to ear, night and day. This magical gift serves her well as its ripple effect is evident by looking at the smiles on the faces of the residents she serves: all smiles! Liz is an energetic, dedicated and adaptable team player, always looking for creative solutions. A “connector” on all levels, her listening skills are second to none which makes her responsive and attentive to each person’s individual needs. Liz is always “on” even outside of The Gables. She loves reading books to her two daughters, and they love when she’ll dig for worms, get muddy and make treats with them. She is a hands-on mom! Words to live by: “People will forget what you said, people will forget with you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. Be Kind.”

    Jamie Hickman

    Assistant Executive Director

    Don’t let her sweet, young appearance fool you – Jamie is a fighter! A 10+ year healthcare veteran who joined Capri in 2019, Jamie is a proud survivor of metastatic breast cancer. Diagnosed at the age of 30 with a 3-month baby in tow, Jamie is now part of the broader breast cancer support system – sharing her personal story to lift up others who are struggling through their own journey. Her battle opened her eyes to “live life to the fullest” which she now does with her adorable 2-year old daughter who commands her attention. Her morning routine usually involves waking at the crack of dawn to brew a full pot of coffee that is savored over episodes of Paw Patrol, Blue’s Clues and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Jamie thoroughly enjoys working with seniors – learning about their lives, history, and what shaped them into who they are today. “Not only am I part of the management team at the Gables of Germantown, but I become a part of the resident’s family – and they a part of mine.”

    Kelly Gehring

    Lifestyle Enrichment Coordinator

    Kelly takes great pride in being chosen for a role that has never existed before at The Gables. In just her first two weeks, Kelly has formed strong connections with the residents and is excited to introduce new programs and ideas. She has always aspired for a fulfilling career and sees this opportunity as a step towards that. Her best skills for the job include her extensive experience with seniors, her caring nature, and being a dedicated team player. She describes herself as outgoing, caring, and down to earth. 

    One thing Kelly wants to do before she dies is to travel all over the U.S. and share those experiences with her children. Her goal for the next year is to save enough money to buy her first home with her fiancé. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her friends, and her personal motto is to appreciate each day and not worry about the little things. If Kelly could tell one of her residents something they’ve taught her, it would be to cherish every day and enjoy life to the fullest.

    Emily Asmondy

    RN

    Emily is an RN here at The Gables of Germantown. The thing Emily loves most about her role is being able to individualize care with each of the residents and make personal connections with them. The care that she provides the residents isn’t always just medical. The mental/emotional and social care that she provides is sometimes just as important. Before becoming an RN Emily was a paramedic, firefighter, and emergency dispatcher for a police and fire department. She thrives in emergency situations. When Emily isn’t providing amazing care at The Gables, you may find her with her husband and two children spending time outdoors. They love spending their weekends and days off hunting, fishing, hiking in the woods, gardening, and boating.

    Samantha Koller

    RN

    Sam is our Memory Care RN. She loves helping residents feel at home during such a big transition in their lives. Sam loves helping people and in her role as RN, she gets to help the residents and their families! Growing up Sam wanted to be a chef, which may not quite fit her current role, but in her free time it definitely does. When Sam isn’t caring for residents, you might find her going out to eat and trying new restaurants. And with a personal motto, “There is always room for ice cream – it fills the cracks,” you know food is also a big part of her life. The biggest part, however, is her son. Sam spends most of her free time playing with or snuggling her son. The one thing she wants most in life is to see her son grow up and be happy. We are so lucky to have such a fun and caring RN like Sam here at the Gables of Germantown!

    Joan Rider

    Memory Care Manager

    In 2010, Joan started her career in senior living working as the activity lady in memory care. Her supervisor encouraged – and accepted – her willingness to try out-of-the-box, unconventional engagement activities. It was at that time that Joan knew she wanted to move into management of a memory care community.

    Joan joined the Capri Communities team at a sister community while it was still under construction as the Lifestyle Enrichment Coordinator of memory care and assisted living. She transitioned to a different company, spending five years gaining experience in skilled nursing. There, Joan successfully managed a deficient-free enrichment program, made community connections, and implemented a wide array of unique programs. During that time, she successfully obtained her certificate as a Certified Dementia Practitioner. In 2022 Joan returned to Capri Communities as the Memory Care Manager at The Gables of Germantown in. As a certified Dementia Live Coach, she offers the Dementia Live experience to staff and families at The Gables. Joan also has associate degrees in business management and marketing principles.

    “I absolutely love my job,” said Joan. “It is the perfect combination of staff management, enriching programming, and marketing.” When she’s not producing zany and crazy ideas for engagement (like axe throwing!), Joan enjoys playing hockey, mentoring her son’s high school robotics team (residents even took a turn driving the team’s robots), and taking care of her critters, including her turtles. Fun Fact: her turtles visit many other Capri Communities during the week of World Turtle Day!
