Capri Residents Stay in Touch

Seniors sometimes feel that when they retire they lose the opportunity to stay in touch with and influence the important events occurring in their communities. Capri Communities has a history of hosting visits from prominent business, religious, and political figures. These events give seniors the opportunity to remain informed, share their ideas, and stay in closer touch with their community overall -- a core value of Capri Communities.

Wilson Commons is a great example how Capri Communities remains actively in touch with prominent decision-makers from the surrounding area. In March of 2004, Wilson Commons hosted a mayoral debate between Marvin Pratt and Tom Barrett. Today Mayor Barrett stays has a friendly relationship with Wilson Commons, attending their 2005 Christmas party. More recent events include a lecture from Milwaukee Chief of Police Nanette Haggerty. She spoke about the state of affairs in the Department, and asked residents for suggestions on how she might improve police effectiveness and community relations.

Archbishop Timothy Dolan visited Wilson Commons in January of 2006. He talked to the residents about the state of affairs at the diocese and the changing role of the church in our changing world. Residents were encouraged to share their opinions and attitudes.

In March of 2006 Mr. Daniel Finley, the new CEO of the Milwaukee Public Museum, visited and gave a talk about his plans to improve the business situation at the Museum.

In late April of 2006 Congresswoman Gwen Moore is visiting to voice her views about local and national political events. This gives Capri residents a first-person opportunity to influence people in power and have their voices count.

In late summer of 2006, Wilson Commons is planning to host a gubernatorial debate.

Capri Communities attract the time and attention of community leaders because the leaders realize how much they learn from spending time with Capri residents. It's all part of Capri Communities firm commitment to keep their residents active, vital, and useful to the people around them.
