Being the Executive Director is more than just a job to Andrew, it is a meaningful opportunity to have the ability to improve the lives of the residents of Summit Woods. Andrew makes sure to take the time to get to know each resident and listen to their stories in order to get to know the community on a more personal level. “I find it fascinating to hear about what life was like in the past and compare it to the world we live in today,” says Andrew.
Since his early childhood, Andrew has always been adventurous. Growing up in Duluth, Minnesota, Andrew spent most of his time exploring the outdoors and playing soccer. As a child he would often return home soaking wet and full of mud because he would have to pay a visit to a near by creek on his way home from school. After high school Andrew went on to earn a BS in Healthcare Administration and a BBA from UW-Eau Claire. Before returning to college Andrew took some time off to learn new surroundings and explore the mid-west! Andrew traveled throughout Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin to get a taste of life on the farm. Andrew says, “One of the most memorable times happened while we were herding cattle down a country road when suddenly something spooked them! They started to run so we had to try and keep them together without getting run over by them!”
Like much of his personal life, Andrew’s professional career has been an exciting journey of its own. “I have held a variety of jobs and have done everything from retail to youth ministry.” The most notable experience for Andrew was working for Menards holding various titles and even being selected to star in a commercial! Andrew’s current career path began when he was selected to be an intern for a Long Term Care Facility in the Milwaukee area. That experience gave Andrew a glimpse into the entire spectrum of care available to seniors. After completion of the internship Andrew began working for a local Care Based Residential Facility (CBRF) before joining Team Capri as the Executive Director of Summit Woods.
Andrew loves watching friendships grow at Summit Woods and says, “I love the involvement of our residents which give an incredible sense of community. There are so many friendships and things to do. Living here you can continue your hobbies such as gardening, knitting, keeping physically fit, or just getting together with other residents to watch the Packers win another game!”
