Village Pointe Commons - Next Generation Senior Housing
February 6, 2015 (GRAFTON, WI) - Waukesha-based Tarantino & Company is finalizing plans for a new $22 million senior housing development with 227 units in Grafton called Village Pointe Commons. The development will be located on 14 acres along 1st Avenue north of Wisconsin Avenue - the location of the former Manchester Mall.
Developer James Tarantino said Village Pointe Commons is the next generation of senior living in Wisconsin. "We've worked very hard to create a vibrant environment for seniors in a community that is well-positioned for growth into the future," Tarantino said.
Village Pointe Commons will provide several levels of service directed toward residents' interests and needs. Village Pointe Commons is designed to encourage an active lifestyle for seniors who are transitioning from a home or condominium to those who need specialized services for memory care.
The unit mix includes 122 Independent Living apartment homes designed to facilitate a resident accessing enhanced services without having to be displaced to another community. The senior Assisted Living community is proposed to include 45 units of Residential Care Apartment Complex (RCAC) licensing and 20 units of Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) licensing. These are designed to offer inclusive packages of health and personal care services that support seniors in need of assistance with Activities of Daily Living.
The design of the 24-bed Memory Care community at Village Pointe Commons is based on the successful model of Tarantino & Company's Mätterhaus Memory Care community located on The Gables of Germantown campus. Mätterhaus was recently nominated for the Senior Housing News 2014 Architecture & Design Awards. This design features open interior spaces that facilitate a resident's ability to transition between high activity spaces to tranquil areas which serve to address and reduce their anxiety. The floor plan encourages residents to independently navigate throughout the building and safely explore their indoor and outdoor surroundings.
Village Pointe Commons will also feature a new, market-driven housing option called a Casetta. These Casettas feature large, single-family ranch homes arranged in four unit groups with a shared community room. Each community room will feature a fireplace, small serving kitchenette, and comfortable seating. This community room serves as additional space for residents to use together and with their family and friends. Residents of this neighborhood of homes will be encouraged to enjoy the activities of the rest of the Campus.
