Cindy Zieroth

Lifestyle Enrichment SpecialistEmail: czieroth@capricommunities.comCindy joined the Gables of Germantown team in May 2016. She was in the music program at UW - Milwaukee under Professor Leo Muskatevc with 65 other students. Cindy was one of the four who graduated. After college, she interned at a hospital in New Jersey and started her first job in geriatrics. "I have worked with seniors at every level of care as a music therapist, activity therapist, executive director, and community outreach director," she said. Cindy also helped bring about the Tri-County Senior Olympics and was a liaison between music therapy and the public at health fairs.
Gain and Retain Your Overall Wellness (GROW), Capri's activity program, incorporates monthly themes to keep activity calendars fresh. Cindy's favorite so far was February 2017's Party Hearty. Cindy, staff volunteers, and residents traveled around Engel Haus and Mätterhaus delivering singing Valentines. "The day of love made everyone feel so happy and special," said Cindy. As a music therapist, she also enjoys the Musical March theme! Because socialization and activity are so important for seniors, Cindy and her Lifestyle Enrichment team will remind residents about upcoming activities during meal times or even write them a little note encouraging them to try a new activity.
Cindy and her husband Ben were married in 1987. They both love spending time together and with their daughter and son and their families, including six grandsons. She, of course, loves music and still gets together with a group bi-monthly. "I enjoy accompanying my grand-niece, who plays flute in the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO)," she said. Cindy also enjoys gardening and spending time with her friends and neighbors.

Previously, she worked for ten years as a director in CBRF-licensed group homes. She brings knowledge about the population and community as well as passion for personalized care and building relationships with residents and families alike. "I keep an open line of communication with families and contact them often," said Meg. "I try to reach out to residents' loved ones when there are good things that happen just as often as there are concerns."
She shared a story about a former resident who was unable to express himself through words. This resident became aggravated shortly after moving in. Through building a relationship with him and his loved ones, Meg came to find out this resident loved everything to do with cowboys and horses. "Whenever he was having a bad day... I would talk to him about horses. When I could, I would take him out to my stable to brush my horse, Classy, and give her and the other horses some treats."
Meg knows the Gables is the best because its great group of nurses and care team members dedicated to the residents. She plans on talking to residents as often as she can to learn more about them and make sure they are happy. "We all strive to be more than just an Assisted Living and Memory Care community. We are home," said Meg. Meg grew up in Fond du Lac, WI, and loved to go horseback riding. She enjoys it still today along with baking and hiking with her dogs.

Tanya knows her meals provide more than just nutrition for her residents. "It makes a resident's day that much better when they have a great meal to share with friends and neighbors."
